Experts Learn About Ammonia Criteria During WEF, NACWA, and WERF Workshop

On Oct. 28–29, the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.), National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA; Washington), and Water Environment Research Foundation (WERF; Alexandria, Va.) hosted a workshop covering the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s revised ammonia criteria.

The workshop explored the need for additional implementation tools and discussed a framework to help utilities with implementation and to reduce the burden for permittees. It identified key areas of need for information, gaps in knowledge, and tools needed. NACWA, WEF, and WERF are preparing a final report on the outcome of the workshop to help utilities implement these new criteria.
