The Challenging Nutrients Coalition, a coalition of federal agencies, has launched the Nutrient Sensor Challenge as part of a collaborative effort to provide information needed to better understand and more effectively manage nutrients. The coalition includes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, and U.S. Geological Survey.

The challenge will accelerate the development and deployment of reliable, affordable (less than $5000) nutrient sensors for use in aquatic environments. A key to the challenge’s success is demonstrating to developers that there is a robust market for these sensors.

The challenge seeks participants to help spur the development of these sensors by providing input. Share your input, including the need for sensors and support for the challenge at http://www.act-us.info/nutrients-challenge/Form.php. Registration closes March 16.
