During WEFTEC® 2013, Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn announced that October is WATER’S WORTH IT month in Illinois. Quinn spoke during the annual technical exhibition and conference’s Opening General Session.

“Water is an essential and limited natural resource and Illinois is fortunate to have reliable access to clean water,” Quinn said in an Illinois Government News Network release. “I encourage all Illinois residents to observe ‘WATER’S WORTH IT’ month by recognizing the challenges involved in maintaining clean and safe water, and the need to maintain and modernize our water infrastructure.”

This declaration and public outreach effort joins the Illinois Clean Water Initiative that Quinn launched in 2012 to help local government face the need to replace aging water industry infrastructure, the news release says.
