NOAA Grants Give Students, Teachers Hands-On Learning Outdoors

Students around the United States are learning more about the water environment using scientific methods thanks to grants from the Bay-Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) program run by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

All B-WET projects emphasize “meaningful watershed educational experiences” through sustained, hands-on activities that are aligned with academic learning standards and respond to regional education and environmental priorities, according to a NOAA news release.


In Memoriam: Sam L. Warrington, WEF President 1974–1975

Sam L. Warrington, professional engineer and Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) president from 1974 to 1975, died Dec. 11 at the age of 91. He joined WEF in 1954 and became a WEF life member in 1989.


WEF Launches the Stormwater Report Website

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) presents the Stormwater Report now with an updated look on the new website stormwater.wef.org. The January edition of the report marked the launch of the site, which is dedicated to stormwater news.


Access Information on Your Local Waterways With This U.S. EPA Website and Mobile App

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has launched a new website and mobile app called How’s My Waterway. The resource describes whether local waterways have been checked for pollution, what was found, and what is being done.
