Network and Collaborate on WEFCOM, an Online Tool for All WEF Members

September 20, 2012

Featured, WEF Resources & Efforts

All Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) members now can network and collaborate in the online workspace, WEFCOM.

What is WEFCOM?

The WEFCOM mascot needs a name. Vote for the new name, to be revealed Oct. 3, at wefcom.wef.org.

WEFCOM allows members to personalize their WEF experience by creating a profile, building networks, and blogging. Members also can post discussions and build resource libraries and a Water Wiki on the site.

WEFCOM is organized into communities. There are several open to all members, including the All Member, WEF Book Club, and Webcasts and Online Courses communities. There also are 17 technical committee communities that will provide discussion forums and resource libraries for their respective topics.

WEFCOM also features an Access Water Knowledge Library and a mascot. The library is a searchable collection of links to past WEF proceedings, Water Environment & Technology articles, and more, all organized by topic. The mascot, a bright green and yellow crocodile that will make an appearance at WEFTEC® 2012, needs a name. Vote in the mascot naming poll on the WEFCOM homepage. The winning name will be revealed Oct. 3.

Training opportunities

Learn about various WEFCOM features by watching 1- to 2-minute training videos, available on the WEFCOM instruction page. WEF also will provide a tour of the site through a no-cost WEFCOM training webinar, Sept. 25 from 1 to 2 p.m. EDT. Attend a brief presentation at WEFTEC in the Learning Lounge, 10 a.m., Oct. 1 and 2, to learn more about WEFCOM. The Oct. 1 presentation will kick off a WEFCOM Scavenger Hunt, familiarizing WEF members with the site and educating participants on how the site can serve as a resource and networking opportunity. Scavenger Hunt participants will be eligible to win free WEFTEC 2013 registration.

Also at WEFTEC, get a professional photo to upload to your WEFCOM profile, in one of two handy locations:  Hall C, booth #1362;  or Hall I, Booth #8248.
