Managing wet weather flows in wastewater collection and treatment systems has remained an unrelenting problem for wastewater managers. To help, the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) has released the Guide for Municipal Wet Weather Strategies, which explains generally accepted planning and engineering practices and a process for selecting the optimum wet weather option. The book, designed for owners, planners, designers, and operators of municipal wastewater collection and treatment systems as well as regulators and other stakeholders, offers a holistic and watershed-based view of managing flows to protect human health and the environment.
