Cities of the Future Offer Water Management Lessons

Chicago Summit Discussion continues in New Orleans during WEFTEC® 2014
 

Any community can learn a lesson or two from cities leading the way in water resource management. Leaders from these cities, representing both the public and private sectors, gathered at the Chicago Water Summit 2014: Global Lessons From Great Water Cities on July 21, to share insight into adapting to water-related challenges. And one thing was clear: all communities share similar problems and goals.

In Memoriam – Curtis Smalley, WEAT President 2013–2014

Curtis Smalley, a Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) member since 1985 and immediate past president of the Water Environment Association of Texas (WEAT; Austin), died July 16 at the age of 56. Smalley served as program manager for the City of Waco, Texas, and, according to many who knew him, embodied the roles of wastewater operator and passionate water-sector leader.
