Those interested in sharing new perspectives for water science, engineering, and education in an alternative format can participate in the Interactive Knowledge Exchange (IKE) at WEFTEC® 2017. The open forum showcases ideas in a more casual setting than those presented at other technical sessions. During the session, selected videos presenting these ideas are shown simultaneously to attendees.
The IKE session at WEFTEC 2016 showcased 21 videos, each lasting 5 minutes or less, that introduced new developments and viewpoints for the water sector. For more information about this session and these videos, read the WEF Highlights article “Second IKE Session Presents Big Ideas in Short Videos.”
Those interested in participating in next year’s exchange can submit IKEstracts consisting of 500-word pitches for video concepts. The deadline to send in IKEstract submissions for WEFTEC 2017 is Jan. 18. The session will feature two new categories of
- research and development, which showcases videos capturing the process of bringing a concept from paper to product; and
- tell it to a fifth grader, in which participants explain complex ideas in easy-to-understand ways for a middle-school audience.
