WEF Introduces New Committee Chairs and Vice Chairs

WEF Resources & Efforts

Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) technical committees help develop WEF policy positions, write technical manuals and books, develop training materials and program content, develop conference programs, and contribute to many other WEF program activities.

Currently, WEF has 35 committees, each focusing on a different aspect of water and wastewater management. At WEFTEC® 2013, the following new chairs and vice chairs were introduced:

Air Quality and Odor Control: Chair — Neil Webster, Webster Environmental Association (Louisville, Ky.); Vice Chair — Carla Dillon, Orange County Sanitation District (Fountain Valley, Calif.)

Constitution and Bylaws: Chair — Duyen Tran, CH2M Hill (Englewood, Colo.)

Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design: Chair — Art Umble, MWH Global (Broomfield, Colo.); Vice Chair — Andy Shaw, Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kan.)

Nominating: Chair — Cordell Samuels, Regional Municipality of Durham (Ontario)

Operations Challenge: Chair — Stacie Metzler, Hampton Roads (Va.) Sanitation District; Vice Chair — Jim Borton, CH2M Hill

Research and Innovation: Chair — Chris Schmit, South Dakota State University (Brookings); Vice Chair — Kartik Chandran, Columbia University (New York)

Residuals and Biosolids: Chair — Jim Welp, Black & Veatch; Vice Chair — Chris Peot, DC Water (Washington)

Students and Young Professionals: Chair — Haley Falconer, HDR Inc. (Omaha, Neb.); Vice Chair — Michelle Hatcher, CDM Smith (Cambridge, Mass.)

Sustainability CoP: Chair — Ifetayo Venner, ARCADIS (Highlands Ranch, Colo.); Vice Chairs Jim Newton, Kent County Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility (Milford, Del.); and Derek Gardels, HDR Inc.

Utility Management: Chair — Raynetta Marshall, JEA Organization (Jacksonville, Fla.); Vice Chairs — Bruce Husselbee, Hampton Roads (Va.) Sanitation District; and Jackie Jarrell, Charlotte–Mecklenburg Utilities Division (Charlotte, N.C.)

Water Reuse: Chair — Chris Stacklin, Orange County Sanitation District; Vice Chair — Meera Victor, Carollo Engineers (Walnut Creek, Calif.)

Watershed Management: Chair — Fernando Pasquel, ARCADIS; Vice Chair — Bart Jones, retired (Madison, Wis.)
