Participate

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) seeks individuals interested in participating as reviewers of two publications. Reviewers must work closely with WEF staff and dedicate expertise and time to ensuring the development of high-quality manuals according to a publication schedule. If interested in serving as a reviewer, contact Britt Sheinbaum at bsheinbaum@wef.org.

Wet Weather Design and Operation

This special publication will address both wastewater treatment plant design and operations practices related to wet weather flows, and it expands on the peculiarities of wet weather from both design and operational perspectives.

The development of this publication, which is being led by Chris Tabor of Hazen and Sawyer (New York) and Julian Sandino of CH2M Hill (Englewood, Colo.), has begun, and the detailed chapter outlines are ready for review. Publication for the manual is set for July 2014.

Green Infrastructure Implementation

This is a special publication that will provide actionable information to promote implementation of green infrastructure, as well as identify obstacles and provide approaches to overcome them at the programmatic level. The book is intended to work in tandem with the recently released Design of Urban Stormwater Controls (Manual of Practice No. 23) and other books that focus on design of green infrastructure elements.

The development of this publication, which is being led by Carol Hufnagel of Tetra Tech (Pasadena, Calif.) and Nancy Rottle of the University of Washington (Seattle), has begun, and detailed chapter outlines are ready for review. Publication is set for June 2014.

Moving Toward Resource Recovery Facilities

This is a special publication that will provide an overview of the fundamental drivers for resource recovery from wastewater and present the basic case for resource recovery. It will highlight technological state-of-the-art approaches to resource recovery and provide general guidance on the applicability of recovery technologies for the cross section of water resource recovery facility types.

The development of this publication, which is being led by Art Umble of MWH Americas Inc. (Broomfield, Colo.), has begun, and first drafts will be ready for review in June. Publication is set for May 2014.
