WEF Presents the 2012 Student Design Competition Winners

Achievements

Student teams from the University of Colorado–Boulder and the University of South Florida (Tampa), won the 11th annual 2012 Student Design Competition held at WEFTEC® 2012. The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) competition challenges individuals or teams of students within a WEF student chapter to prepare a design to solve a local water quality issue in a wastewater design or environment design category.

The University of Colorado–Boulder team’s project, “Broadmoor Park Properties Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade,” won in the wastewater design category. The University of South Florida team’s project, “Ragan Park,” won in the environmental design category.

This marks the second win in this competition during the past 11 years for both universities. Both teams received certificates and a $2500 award.

The program was sponsored by Black & Veatch (Overland Park, Kan.), CDM Smith (Cambridge, Mass.), Greeley and Hansen (Chicago), and HDR Engineers (Omaha, Neb).
