The green street, Blue Island Avenue and Cermak Road in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, features vegetated planters, bioswales, rain gardens and below-ground infiltration basins. The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) started monitoring the area in 2009 to find that the street caputures up to 80% of a 25.4-mm (1-in.) in 5-hour storm.
