In June, the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) will hold a conference that covers various nutrient-related topics. The Nutrient Removal and Recovery Conference 2018 features three workshops and 16 technical sessions. Topics covered include
- optimizing system operation, performance, and energy use;
- mitigating struvite and vivianite scaling;
- adopting sustainable practices and planning decisions around sustainability;
- balancing resource recovery and nutrient management;
- complying with permits and meeting effluent requirements;
- implanting innovative control systems and technologies;
- meeting nitrogen and phosphorus limits;
- conducting model simulations;
- achieving energy reduction and neutrality;
- recovering and reusing nutrients;
- protecting watersheds; and
- implementing sidestream fermentation.
