WEF Mobilizes Network To Assist in Hurricane Sandy Response and Recovery

Hurricane Sandy pummeled the northeastern United States Oct. 29–30. High winds and rain caused widespread power outages and flooding; hardest hit were New York City and parts of New Jersey. As citizens took shelter, wastewater treatment facilities continued to operate as long as possible. The Water Environment Federation (Alexandria, Va.) mobilized its network of members and Member Associations to provide information, resources, and assistance to affected facilities.

Operations Challenge 2012 Celebrates 25th Anniversary

WEFTEC® 2012 marked the 25th anniversary of Operations Challenge. A total of 38 teams gathered in New Orleans to compete in the competition’s five events, Process Control, Laboratory, Safety, Collection Systems, and Wilo Maintenance.

On Sept. 29, approximately 80 volunteers gathered to participate in Bogging in the Big Easy, the fifth annual WEFTEC® service project.

 


WEF Blends Technical Sessions With the Exhibition Experience at WEFTEC

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) has developed a new way to learn at its annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC®) that blends technical programming with the exhibition experience.

These new opportunities — mobile sessions — debuted at WEFTEC 2011. At WEFTEC 2012, WEF expanded the program by offering four mobile sessions.
