Utility personnel interested in visiting other utilities to learn about innovations and different processes can apply for a scholarship.

The Leaders Innovation Forum for Technology (LIFT) offers the chance to gain hands-on experience with new technologies and processes, as well as the opportunity to meet those responsible for these innovations at other utilities.

Candidates are invited to submit applications for the Scholarship Exchange Experience for Innovation & Technology (SEE IT). The LIFT SEE IT initiative is spearheaded by The Water Research Foundation (Denver), the Water Environment Federation (Alexandria, Va.), and National Association of Clean Water Agencies (Washington, D.C.).

Those selected will receive travel support to visit another utility that has implemented an innovation of interest. Participants will gain new perspectives, information, tools, and resources that can help water resource recovery facilities transform into utilities of the future.

In 2018, the LIFT SEE IT scholarship helped 28 staff members from 10 utilities travel to see technologies in person. “Because of the experience on this scholarship trip, I feel confident that our utility can move forward in this project, and with that, move one step closer towards becoming a Utility of the Future,” said Catherine Harris, Pollution Prevention Specialist at the Madison Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD), who received a scholarship in 2018

Submit applications by Dec. 14.
