WEF Announces Revamped Knowledge Center

Knowledge CenterThe Water Environment Federation’s (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) Knowledge Center offers comprehensive online training materials for water professionals and students. The revamped website includes many new elements such as a free featured video every month, group purchase functionality, nearly 100 courses and activities, and Continuing Education Units available for more than 20 courses.

Users can purchase a subscription to receive multiple courses at a discount. Subscription access lasts for 1 year and cannot be shared. Users also can purchase repeats of a course for their respective staff and receive an enrollment code to distribute. These purchases can be tracked to show which staff member started and completed the course. Contact onlinetraining@wef.org to learn more about these discounts.

The website includes more than 50 “soft skills” courses on communication, management, program management, and leadership. These courses have an “Ask the Expert” feature, which submits questions directly to an expert in the field. Questions are answered as quickly as possible, usually within 24 hours.

The best-selling study guides by WEF and Association of Boards of Certification (Ankeny, Iowa) now are available as interactive online activities. Each includes two formats of quizzes for every competency. One is a timed practice quiz with scoring at the end, replicating an exam situation. The other is an interactive quiz, which immediately lets users know if they got a question wrong and allows them to retry immediately.
