WEF Offers Seminars on FOG, the Chesapeake Bay, and Odors

Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) 2015 Seminar

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) will use the knowledge of experts already involved in the management of fats, oils, and grease (FOG) and incorporate new research and case studies in this interactive program. Experts also will present background information and implementation details for a variety of FOG management strategies.

The training presents a spectrum of options that can be used as a basis for utilities to design and implement their own site-specific FOG management programs for preventing or eliminating the entry of FOG into the collection system. Through exercises, guided discussions, and trivia questions, the seminar will cover such topics as chemistry and characteristics of FOG, FOG source identification, interceptor and separation device design, inspection and monitoring, and hauling and waste disposal.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their utility’s FOG program-related materials and to share their experiences during the seminar.
