The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) has released a fact sheet describing the treatment of pulp-and-paper-industry wastewater. The majority of the industry’s wastewater is treated using large basins, but temperature can change their performance.

In this document, WEF presents details behind two commonly used, basin thermal models to compare their strengths and weaknesses as well as to provide guidance for selecting a model depending on project specifications.

While more complex models can provide better prediction power, the additional data collection and modeling evaluation time can be expensive,” according to the document. Read more in the fact sheet, “Pulp and Paper: Temperature Modeling in Large Basins.” Access additional resources and fact sheets or information on industrial wastewater online.
