WEF Urges Congress To Include WIFIA In WRDA

During the recent National Water Policy Forum & Fly-In, members of congress stated that the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate are nearing a final compromise on the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA). WRDA is expected to authorize more than $12 billion in U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water infrastructure projects.

On April 3, the Water Environment Federation (Alexandria, Va.) sent a letter to the House and Senate, urging them to include authorization of the Water Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (WIFIA). WIFIA reauthorizes the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (SRF) program and includes “Buy American” restrictions on WIFIA- and SRF-financed projects in order to make those restrictions consistent with the restrictions included in the fiscal year 2014 Consolidated Appropriations bill.
