This year’s annual Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC) drew a record 22,589 registrants, making the event the largest in WEF’s 86-year history. Held in Chicago, which hosted WEF’s first conference in 1928, WEFTEC® 2013 also drew 971 companies covering 27,628 m2 (297,400 ft2) of exhibit space. WEFTEC featured 144 technical sessions, 24 hands-on workshops, 10 facility tours, and additional technical programming events held on the exhibit floor, including 24 technical sessions and 12 mobile sessions.

Growing throughout the years, WEFTEC has captured the title of world’s largest annual water quality conference and exhibition. The last time WEFTEC visited Chicago was in 2008, when the event set its previous record of 21,950 registrants.

“WEFTEC has evolved over the past 86 years, but it continues to demonstrate WEF’s unfailing commitment to serving the needs of the water profession,” said WEF Interim Executive Director Eileen O’Neill. “The event is carefully designed to offer a personal experience that can be customized for individual professional growth, which ultimately supports and contributes to the overall success of the entire water sector.”
