Kevin Carroll, a best-selling author and speaker, will deliver the keynote address for the Opening General Session of the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) 86th Annual Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC® 2013).

Carroll’s goal is to inspire businesses, organizations, and individuals to embrace creativity to maximize and sustain meaningful personal and professional growth. He will apply this philosophy to WEF’s mission and use examples to provide a unique set of tools, resources, and ideas to help WEF and its members remain inspired, passionate, and intentional about the work of the water sector.

Carroll is founder of Kevin Carroll Katalyst LLC and author of three books: Rules of the Red Rubber Ball, What’s Your Red Rubber Ball?!, and The Red Rubber Ball at Work.

“We can only benefit from taking a fresh look at what we do, why we do it, and how we do it — both personally and professionally,” said WEF Executive Director Jeff Eger. “Mr. Carroll’s unique approach to life and business is exactly what is needed to help inspire and motivate the water sector toward more innovative and creative approaches to water management.”

WEFTEC 2013 offers learning opportunities through 140 technical sessions, 27 workshops, and an exhibition featuring 883 companies that will occupy more than 28,000 m2 (300,000 ft2) of floor space. The Opening General Session is scheduled for Oct. 7 and will include remarks from Cordell Samuels, 2012–2013 WEF president.
