Learning Opps, Participate

The next generation of water sector professionals can gain new leadership skills by participating in the Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) Water Leadership Institute. The program features a blended learning approach examining complex challenges facing the water and wastewater sectors while building skills and knowledge needed to bring change to water organizations.

The opportunity facilitates networking with public- and private-sector professionals and developing lasting relationships within the water sector. Those interested will need to attend a retreat in Alexandria, Va., and a workshop in Chicago at WEFTEC 2019. Participants will be chosen through a competitive application process. Those interested will need to create an account on the Water Leadership Institute website and will be able to make changes to their online application until Jan. 31.

Those that need financial assistance can apply for a mix of partial- and full-need scholarships. The George S. Hawkins Scholarship covers the full tuition fee of the program. WEF will award the scholarship to one participant who has demonstrated a desire to continue developing his or her skills and is focused on continued involvement in the evolving water sector. Other scholarships will be awarded by WEF based on need and availability of funds. All scholarships can be applied for through the online Water Leadership Institute application.

All water sector professionals are encouraged to apply. Submit applications by Jan. 31.
