Ask Congress To Support Funding for Water Research Program

The National Priorities Water Research (NPWR) program has helped advance water science research through applied, extramural research projects. But more funding is needed.

The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) Water Advocates Program asks water sector professionals to garner support for NPWR from their members of Congress.

The program directly benefits water sector utilities through increased knowledge, tools, and models that can improve public health outcomes and lower costs for municipalities. The U.S. Senate version of the minibus appropriations measure would provide the program $5 million, while the U.S. House of Representatives version funds the program at $4.1 million. WEF encourages members to ask officials to support the $5 million funding for fiscal year 2019.
