Texas Teams Earn First in 30th Operations Challenge

Highlights17Dec2Members of the 44 Operations Challenge teams competing at WEFTEC 2017 entered McCormick Place in Chicago with their sights set on winning. In addition to overall Division 1 or Division 2 awards, teams vied for top spots in the competition’s five events: Process Control, Laboratory, Safety, Godwin Maintenance, and Collection Systems.

Staff dug deep into WEF’s archives, sifting through photographs, books, newsletters, and other artifacts that help tell the story of WEF and WEFTEC.

Community Service Project Creates a Water Legacy

Highlights17Dec5To create a vibrant and enduring example of a water legacy, more than 220 volunteers joined forces for the 10th annual Water Environment Federation (Alexandria, Va.) Community Service Project on Sept. 30.

This year’s effort, Manierre’s Sustainable Stormwater Project, took place at Chicago’s Manierre Elementary School.


Cultivating the Next Generation of Water Stewards at the Water Palooza

Highlights17Dec6Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) Student and Young Professionals Committee volunteers dedicated time to help educate students about water during the 5th-annual Water Palooza on Sept. 29.

During the event, held as part of the WEF Community Service Project, students at Manierre Elementary School (Chicago) participated in a series of hands-on and demonstrative water-themed activities.
