The holiday season is upon us, and while working people around the world take time off to spend with family and friends, many water professionals will still work around-the-clock providing clean water and a safe environment for their communities to enjoy. The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.), too, is keeping busy by laying the foundation for a successful 2020.

In her latest video update, 2019-2020 WEF President Jackie Jarrell discusses the organization’s recent efforts to advocate for progressive, forward-looking policies around such hot-topic issues as resource recovery and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) regulation. Jarrell urges water professionals to participate in the WEF Water Advocates Program to help us as the federation pushes for water and wastewater legislation based on sound science.

Jarrell also notes that WEF is spreading the word about our sector’s successes. For example, the organization served as a production partner for Brave Blue World, a documentary that premiered this month starring top-billing names such as Matt Damon, Liam Neeson, Jaden Smith, and WEF Past President Tom Kunetz.

Watch Jarrell’s address below, and don’t miss WEF’s 2019 Year in Review for more about the federation’s recent efforts.
