The Water Environment Federation (WEF; Alexandria, Va.) hosted its 86th annual technical exhibition and conference, WEFTEC^® 2013, Oct. 5–9 in Chicago. A total 22,589 registrants had access to 144 technical sessions, 24 workshops, 10 facility tours, and 971 companies using a net 27,628 m² (297,400 ft²) of exhibit space.

In addition to numerous educational opportunities both in sessions and on the exhibit floor, the event featured an Operations Challenge event, many noteworthy speakers, the Innovation Showcase, the Global Center, the Stormwater Congress and Pavilion, and the Student Design Competition.
