Join thousands of colleagues at the Water Environment Federation Technical Exhibition and Conference (WEFTEC®). Take advantage of the learning opportunities available around every corner of the New Orleans Morial Convention Center during WEFTEC 2014, Sept. 27–Oct. 3.

WEFTEC 2014 provides registrants with access to 145 technical sessions, 35 workshops, 11 mobile sessions, 8 facility tours, and about 1000 exhibiting companies.

Learning opportunities have expanded and become more interactive. WEFTEC attendees can earn educational credits onsite, including up to 1.2 Continuing Education Units at workshops, 16.5 Professional Development Hours at technical sessions, and up to 8 contact hours a day by visiting the exhibition. Attendees must scan their WEFTEC badges when entering and exiting events or the floor to earn credits and are responsible for ensuring WEFTEC credits are accepted by local certification and licensing agencies.

  • For the WEFTEC 2014 Service Project, “Recharge, Restore, Revitalize Hollygrove: Conrad Park Green Infrastructure Enhancements,” volunteers will plant bioswales and rain gardens to help manage stormwater and reduce urban flooding on Sept. 27. Read more about other Students and Young Professionals events at WEFTEC.
  • The Innovation Showcase will feature the Innovation Pavilion at Booth 4029, Hall E, where educational sessions, networking events, and exhibits will take place.
  • The Stormwater Congress, held in conjunction with WEFTEC 2014 on Sept. 27 to Oct. 1, will feature stormwater programming. It also will feature the Stormwater Pavilion at Booth 8303, which highlights stormwater-specific exhibits and educational events.
  • The Opening General Session, scheduled for 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 29, features keynote speaker Luke Williams.
  • During Technical Session 100, Great Water Cities: Paths to Livability, Prosperity and Resilience, top water leaders from around the world will discuss how water, wastewater, and stormwater systems face the challenges of climate change, extreme events, utility emergencies, and natural disasters. The session will be held Sept. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon in Great Hall A/B.
  • Operations ChallengeTM will take place Sept. 29 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sept. 30 from 9:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Trying to decide which technical sessions to attend? WEF has developed a list of featured speakers and included background information on what they will be discussing.

WEF Plaza

The WEF Plaza offers a hub for information and resources about WEF. Attendees will find the WEF bookstore, global center, learning lounge, honors and awards display, and apps and e-learning information in this central location in the Grand Concourse lobby. It is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., from Sept. 27 to Oct. 1.

Bookstore events

In the WEF Plaza, the bookstore will sell the latest WEF publications, training guides, and WEF wear. The bookstore also will host a few events:

  • Find Niles the Crocodile in the bookstore and be entered in a daily drawing for a Kindle Paperwhite and the WEF e-book of your choice. Drawings will be held at 12:30 p.m., Sept. 29 to Oct. 1, and you do not have to be present to win. Niles will have a new hiding place after each drawing, so come in every day and “Spot the Croc” for your chance to win.
  • Form a team of one to four players to compete in the $500 Wastewater Trivia Challenge from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 in the Learning Lounge. Teams will answer questions from such categories as green infrastructure, resource recovery facilities, wet weather, and popular culture. The winning team will receive a $500 gift certificate to spend at the WEF bookstore. All WEFTEC attendees are invited to participate, and refreshments will be provided. The event is sponsored by the WEF bookstore, WEF Press, and McGraw–Hill Education (New York).
  • Enjoy a cup of coffee while browsing the latest water and wastewater publications Sept. 29 to Oct. 1 from 8 to 9 a.m. Complimentary coffee provided by WEF Press and McGraw–Hill Education.
